I am an artist primarily concerned with the fabrication and design of sculpture, functional objects and spaces. My muses are materials and processes. My work vacillates between studying and mastering art and craft techniques and attaining the pure joy of unfettered experimentation. I love the challenge of limitations and the promise of a novel discovery.
Unwilling to focus my practice into an easily definable narrative, I divide my time between teaching, engineering ambitious projects for other artists, and personal endeavors. If there exists a centroid of my activities, it most likely involves the kinesiology of craft and the aesthetics of objects in space. For me there is little distinction between a sculpture, a chair, a dance. I equally love a well-made tool, a hyper-functional space and an engaging collaboration. Nothing happens alone.
I hold dual bachelors in Sculpture and Art Education from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and am the first American to have attended the graduate program in Industrial Design at the ECAL in Lausanne, Switzerland. My work has shown at the Milan Furniture Fair, The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston and numerous galleries throughout the USA.
